Sandycamps - Imsouane

Overview

Sandycamps is located in the oasis that is Imsouane. Surrounded by greenery, mountains and ocean this camp is a place where you can really switch off and relax into that holiday mindset. This camp is truly a great all-rounder. It has arguably the best break in Morocco for beginners whilst also some more challenging spots for intermediate surfers. For those that are there for more of a chilled time - there are countless rooftops and spaces to practice yoga, sunbathe or even relax in the pool. We haven't even started on the food and sunsets. Take a dive in to the full breakdown below.

Accommodation

A mixture of comfortable shared and private dorms. Decorated in a traditional Moroccan style you will happily relax in to your room after a long day surfing and sunning. All rooms have a shower, toilets, bed linen, towels and satellite TV.

Food

Like most camps we work with, Sandcamps offers a mix of Western and Moroccan meals. For our large groups, dinner is provided on the night of arrival and breakfast on the day of departure. Breakfast is usually a spread of bread, cheese, Moroccan pancakes, jams and fruit. Lunches are served back at camp rather than packed lunches unlike other camps. Dinners are 2/3 courses and Sandycamps also hosts a stunning BBQ for both meat lovers and vegetarians.

Nightlife

Sandycamps is the hub of entertainment in Imsouane. They invite musicians to play several times a week in the camp which also has a bar that serves alcohol. This camp is all about embracing live music from around the world.

Surf guiding/ lessons + equipment

Sandycamps provides surf lessons by qualified professional instructors ensuring great quality in a relaxed and fun atmosphere. Their lessons are based around tide times primarily, but like any camp are dictacted also by wave conditions and level of other guests in the group. For beginners, some theory will be taught at the start of the week to ensure that they understand how to stay safe in the water, paddling technique and where to stand on the board. After this and for other levels, the surf lessons will be water based.

Most surf lessons are two hours long in the morning with supervised surfing in the afternoon. The rent of the surf equipment (boards and wetsuits) is included during the surf lessons.

Imsouane is arguably the best wave in Morocco for beginners. It is also the longest (500m). The seabed is mostly sand with a couple of reef spots which is where the more advance surfers can go. Surf spots within the bay include, 'The Reef', 'The Cathedral' and 'L'Oued'.
